Record 109 degrees in Las Vegas under excessive heat warning

The high temperature hit 109 degrees in Las Vegas for the second day in a row on Sunday, setting a record for the date as much of southern Nevada remained under an excessive heat warning.
The National Weather Service said the high temperature Sunday broke the old record of 108 degrees set at McCarran International Airport for the date in 1996
