Video: Super Typhoon Meranti 9/9/16 - 9/13/16 day-to-day high resolution loop

by Shea Gibson | YouTube

Winds 9/13/16 160kts (184mph) with gusts to 195kts (224mph). Pressure at 896mb. Heading WNW towards the southern tip of Taiwan and eventually weakening on approach to China. Notice the vortical swirls in the eye - called "mesovortices". They are very powerful eddies within the eye that contain high amounts of unstable air/tornadic activity... and winds usually stronger than that of the eye wall. Very dangerous for hurricane hunters. This is the strongest tropical cylcone in the world for 2016 as of today's date.
