The relationship between individual extreme events and broader climate trends can be very complex.

Climate Signals is designed to cut through the complexity and identify the chain of connections between greenhouse gas emissions and individual climate events.

Climate Signals specifies the larger trends and physical processes of climate change that are the context for individual events. For each event in the database, an infographic engine provides a custom “signal tree” that illustrates the connections to climate change.

As an example the article on increased wildfire risk in California explains how extreme heat, years of ongoing drought, and tree die off—all fueled by climate change—are increasing wildfire risk in the Golden State.
