The persistent rains that caused widespread flooding and the death of more than 300 people since late October will finally depart southern India, including the city of Chennai. Chennai experienced the wettest November in more than 20 years as more than 1,016 mm (40 inches) of rain fell...That was followed up by the wettest December day in more than 100 years of record keeping as rainfall totaled 313 mm (12.33 inches) on Dec. 1.
