Johannesburg Flooding Kills 1, Strands Dozens of Cars

At least one person died and dozens of cars were stranded on roadways that quickly became inundated Wednesday afternoon as flooding swamped Johannesburg, South Africa.
Images from social media showed roads covered in fast-moving floodwaters, and motorists abandoned their vehicles as the water rose, according to Eyewitness News. Spokesman Max Cohen told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that one person drowned in Linksfield, located in the northeastern section of Johannesburg, where about 100 cars were stranded in floodwaters.
