Fall Heat Wave Crushes All-Time October Records in Over 70 Cities in South and East, But Relief is Ahead

October all-time record highs have fallen by the wayside in dozens of cities in the South and East as an early-autumn heat wave pushing temperatures into the 90s, even low 100s, is slowly relenting.
Tuesday through Thursday, 75 locations stretching from the Deep South to the Ohio Valley, eastern Great Lakes and Northeast either tied or set a new all-time October record high.
Seventeen of those cities have tied or set new October records each of the first three days of October.
