Water restrictions come to Johannesburg as heat wave builds
South Africa
The City of Johannesburg has announced level two water restrictions as some of Rand Water’s reservoirs ran low or dry. Dr Francois Engelbrecht from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research told News24 that this would be the warmest year on the global climate record. The warming is due to a combination of El Nino and climate change...Usually when the annual global record temperature increases it is by 0.01%. This year the previous average temperature record is expected to be exceeded by 0.1%. "That is 10 times higher than what is normal."
