Forecasted attribution of the human influence on Hurricane Florence

  • Finds that extreme rainfall during Florence was increased by up to 10 percent, and the fraction of rainfall accumulations of more than 30 inches was increased by more than 7 percent of what it would have been without climate change
  • Finds that Hurricane Florence was 9 km larger in mean maximum diameter (or a 1.6% increase in storm area) due to climate change
