Valley Fire burns at least 585 homes, claims life of disabled woman

Cooler weather helped firefighters in their battle Monday against the historic inferno that roared through Lake County...Gov. Brown said more state money, firefighters and equipment will be made available, but that the moves are only a short-term fix. “We have to deal with the immediate, which is costing hundreds and hundreds of millions, and then we have to deal with the long term,” Brown said. “We know with certainty, with great confidence, that we have to deal with climate change. It’s really about you, your children and the future.”
